KEYED UP!

KEYED UP! is a fiscally efficient and socially transformative program that supplements professional musicians’ payments for their performances.  Our reach is unparalleled: we currently support over 30 performances by more than 100 musicians weekly, doubling the pay they would ordinarily take home.  In the process, the music being played more regularly reaches new artistic heights in diverse communities.  Our work is not finished, however: join us as we permanently retire the $100 gig, making jazz an economically viable career for the most talented practitioners of America’s greatest art form.

The following venue map and testimonials provide a window into the impact of our work.

Tim Armacost (tenor saxophonist)"Keyed Up!’s support for Yao’s 'Big Band and Beyond' series of concerts is evidence of their commitment to nurturing serious talent, and to helping get great music in front of live audiences.  Keyed Up!’s motto is “We need more live jazz!”  From the musician’s point of view - we need more organizations like Keyed Up!"

Hans Glawischnig (bassist): KU! allows for senior community members to share their craft, wisdom and secrets with junior members while relieving the venue owners of some of the financial strain,  not to mention the fact that unsuspecting customers might be exposed to a music they don't know much about. It's a win-win-win situation and I'll do my best to nurture and promote KU! in any way possible."
